October 1   Women & Children First Org. of the Month
Organization of the Month: Sarah's Circle

As the days and nights get colder, we want to draw attention to Sarah's Circle, a Chicago organization that has been providing refuge for homeless women since 1979. By providing housing assistance, case management, referral services, and life necessities, Sarah's Circle empowers women to rebuild their lives both emotionally and physically, serving, on average, 60 women a day and more than 600 women annually. To find out more about Sarahâ's Circle, visit their Website at http://www.sarahs-circle.org/events.asp. Or go to http://www.sarahs-circle.org/CouponAngelic.pdf to download a coupon awarding 10% of your WCF purchases to Sarahâ's Circle through the month of October.

Also, through October, Women and Children First will be conducting a women's coat drive to benefit homeless women in the Chicago area. Drop off coats, hats, mittens, and socks any time during our regular business hours.

October 25   Murder @ the Museum Scavenger Hunt
A murdered curator has left behind a cryptic trail of clues connected with secrets in works in the Art Institute. As your team gathers answers about the art, you begin to piece together a sordid tale about greed, lust, pride, revenge and treachery, all revolving around the museum’s planned multi-million-dollar purchase of a Rembrandt. On this hunt, you are not collecting objects, but searching for answers to tricky and humorous questions about the places you visit and sights you see. No previous knowledge of a hunt location is necessary, but you will discover a lot of cool things and fascinating facts. You hunt on a team of two to six people. You have a limited amount of time—usually two hours or 90 minutes—to answer as many questions as possible. Ticket: $25.5/person include museum admission. [Born In Flames] . . . brings forth a vision of a dystopic futuristic society brought low by a group of women who topple the state-run media estate. Set in New York City, the story begins ten years after a revolution that has been won by socialists. The result is that most of the fringe radical movements, led by minorities, liberals, gay rights organizations, and feminists, are being made even more powerless by the new male dominant regime. This is when the group of women decides to mobilize and take the revolution forward beyond all expectations as they forge their own liberation.
