Stacy Jill Jacobs recently caught up with Jane Lynch, "the lawyer from the L Word". Listen to the full interview:
Dykediva: So I’m assuming first of all that everyone has been jumping up for joy now that the writers strike is almost over. What have you been doing during your time off?
Jane:
Well I haven’t had any time off. I started a movie right before the strike, and I just finished last week, so I have been busy through the strike. Now I have some time off, so I am visiting my mother and waiting for the next thing to come down the line. I’ll have something in the summer. I got some time off.
You are originally from Chicago, correct?
I am from the south side, suburb of Dolton.
Do you have any advice for women who are looking at your career and saying “I really want to do that, I love what she does.
Well first I say thank you, I guess, I would say just keep doing. Just say yes to everything, especially in the beginning. Learn what you are made of through that and then you can become more discerning. I think number 1, it has to be fun, and if its not fun, then its not worth it.
One role that I know a lot of the readers on dykediva would be interested in is Joyce in the L word. Were you only originally supposed to be in season two? They keep bringing you back each season and you are absolutely hilarious in the role.
Thank you – I don’t know what the plan was, but was originally a three episode arc and I come back each season for a couple here and there and I think I did 6 this year. This is my most.
One of my favorite memories when hosting the L Word screening party in LA was when you visited us. It was your last episiode of season 2, and Joyce was hitting on Tina, and you were sitting there with your hands on your face, saying “Oh My God.”
Yes. That was very difficult to watch. . .
Listen to what else Jane has to say about being on the L Word, and her upcoming runway appearance in Palm Springs at The Dinah in April in the full interview above.
